Why It Matters

What Licensed Actually Means

Washington state requires every electrical contractor to hold an active license from the Department of Labor & Industries before performing or advertising electrical work. The license signifies that the contractor has met examination, experience, bonding, and insurance requirements and has agreed to perform work to code, pull permits when required, and submit to inspection by the authority having jurisdiction.

Unlicensed contractors are common in residential trade work and they are cheaper for one reason: they do not carry the bond and insurance that protect homeowners from defective workmanship, property damage, or injury claims. They cannot pull permits. Their work, however neat it may appear, exposes the homeowner to invalidated insurance claims and unpermitted-work disclosure obligations at the time of resale. The savings are real and so are the risks.

Our license number — EASTSEL748J9 — appears in the footer of every page on this site, as required by L&I advertising rules, and is verifiable at any time through the official state lookup. We pull permits on every job that requires one, and we coordinate inspections directly with the local authority.
